Before heading to another province or territory, it's essential to be aware of the restrictions of your provincial health insurance and the potential uncovered costs for emergency medical treatment while travelling.
  • Provincial health care benefits: Coverage does not entirely travel with you outside your home province.
  • Emergency medical coverage: Provincial health insurance does not cover all medical expenses incurred outside your home province, such as ambulance services, prescription medications, or accidental dental care.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption: If you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to unforeseen circumstances like illness or family emergencies, travel insurance may refund non-refundable expenses, unlike provincial health insurance.
  • Credit card coverage: Credit card coverage varies widely. Travel medical benefits may have age, trip length, and cost limits. Many cards lack trip cancellation, interruption, baggage loss, or flight accident insurance.

Tip: Be sure to complete the "Total Trip Cost" field when entering a quote in order to have trip cancellation benefits included in the quoted product options.

  1. Comprehensive plans: Perfect for travellers requiring a comprehensive plan with both medical and trip protection benefits. Includes emergency medical coverage, trip cancellation, interruption, delay due to covered reasons, baggage benefits, and more for full protection before and after your trip.
  2. Emergency Medical plans: Ideal for travellers needing essential emergency medical protection when venturing beyond their province or territory. Offers coverage for medical emergencies and travel assistance benefits for Canadian residents.
